pecking order question

Ok so I know that when I brought marshall home I was to make sure my gizmo got extra special attention...she afterall is the queen

My question...how long should I be doing this!?! She still gives me mad looks when I pay marshall any attention....when I come home I go straight to her first...even if marshall is closer...it kills me to do that. She adores marshall always wants to be with him....do I still have to give gizmo "more" attention? She is still not with 100 sharing.

As your kitten grows, the cats will establish a pecking order. I have observed that a lactating mother is always top cat unless there is a long established queen. You obviously have a queen and the kitten will be informed of his place up until puberty. Then, anything goes until he is fixed. Do keep going to her first. Sounds as if you have a good mix.

Thanks catmamma!
Marshall is just over a year and fixed...gizmo is about a year, she is also fixed. I just hate doing that to him he's the sweetest boy..definately beneath gizmo...she reminds him daily... They do get along very well though...she adores him, but I think sometimes she's too much for him. I just call her my queen

Lol, my tortie Autumn is second in command, but that's like being the grand duchess in a household of 5 cats. She's a tiny little cat compared to the others, but none of them mess with her. Galileo is still the magnanimous king though, by virtue of being extremely calm and confident.

Proud people-mommy of Galileo, Dante, Cosette, Autumn,
Ramona & Choco-cat (and foster kitty, Poe).

I have a friend that is convinced that if she shows her cats Foxy and Sassy any extra attention, Miki will attack them. I think that if you show equal amounts of love to all of them then they accept the fact that mom loves all of us equally. Maddie will look a little cross if Lacey is on my lap, but after Lacey leaves Maddie crawls right up there and gets the same amount of loving! Spread the love, the world needs more of it!!!

OhhH I do try to give them both equal amounts...but maybe gizmo a lil more. She always watches me when I'm with marshall...sometimes she just watches...sometimes she comes over. She does get a lil jealous sometimes and I understand. She does tend to put him in his place...poor marshall doesn't mean to disrespect her...I honestly think he doesn't know any better.
