Question Kitten growling at other cat during joined play.

I've had Luna for over 2 months now, she's 7-8 months old.

I've had Phoenix since January and he's a year old.

I often do joined play with them with wand toys and never really had a problem, but today I bought re-fill feathers for Da Bird and the female cat is acting very possessive over it. Every time she catches it and the male is nearby, she GROWLS at him. This is so weird because she's usually very sweet and never growls or hisses. I only recall her ever growling when they first met, but now they get along and groom each other. I've played with Da Bird with them before, and she never acted this way, it only happened today when I replaced the feathers.

When the female growls at the male he just sits there and doesn't want to play anymore.

Why is she acting this way?

My girls are very, very possessive with new toys. I usually buy three. Even when it's only a box, one of them usually takes possession right away.

Kids.

Cali, Cinderella, Cleo and Charlee

Yep, they're just like toddlers fighting over toys. Maybe you should separate them at play time (when it's something interactive like Da Birds), so they each get one-on-one time with you. I don't think it's unusual at all though. Some are just very territorial over their toys!

Thanks guys. I was worried, I didn't want her to be mean :\ As soon as I removed her from the room, my male cat started playing again.

I'd sell the OP to GoCat as the best DaBird review ever written.

The Royal von Meouw Dynasty: His Royal Highness the late Prince von Meouw,
Her Royal Highness Princess Gatita von Meouw, Nikita Duchess of Meouw and
His Highness Cuchi-Cuchi, next in line for the throne of Prince von Meouw.
