This morning he used the litter box!

Maybe only cat lovers would appreciate this:

We have had our oldest cat for 15 years. He has been an indoor outdoor cat the whole time. He is often a cranky, sometimes ornery kitty but of course we love him. A year and a half a go we brought into our home a grey tabby kitten. We knew it wouldn't be easy on the old boy. It took 4 months before he came to terms with the new kitty. And the last hurdle to overcome for him was to use the indoor litter box. Partly he doesn't like using a box but it was compounded with the new kitten using them. I would come home from work during lunch to let him out! Even during last epic winter, it would be sometimes -10 F and he would go outdoors (albeit reluctantly). My best late Christmas "gift", sometime in early January 2014, was when he made the decision to go dstairs and use it! Such relief.

Well we got another kitten this past summer to keep company with the indoor grey tabby. Introductions went somewhat better with the old boy and this new one (I think that the grey tabby paved the way for this one).

Anyways this morning was the first time since last....March 2014 that Luke made the important decision to start using the litter box! What a relief! I don't need to go home!

I know cats don't misuse the litter box because they are "mad" or want to get back at us BUT this cat would have been a candidate for such behaviour.

He got extra treats this morning.

Thanks all.

You guys and gals appreciate the stress that humans experience when a cat you love has trouble being successful with a litterbox.

When this happens...It's definitely cause to Celebrate!!:pup:

An everyday family name; A particular name;
And the name but the Cat Himself Knows, and will never confess." T.S. Eliot
