Cool New Cat - New Litter Box ?

I have a question for everyone. This past week my cat crossed the Rainbow Bridge My housemate asked if I thought that by my birthday (about 3 weeks from now) I would be ready for a new cat. She said that she would like to get me one. My question...do I need to get a new litter box ? The one I had was of course cleaned before I put it away. But should I get a new one for a new cat in the event they can smell something from the previous user and be put off by it ?

I probably wouldn't, I would just wash it really well.

I'm pretty cheap though.

I wouldn't buy a new one, either.

Nice housemate.

I am sorry for your loss. If kitty died from a parasite or disease then yes, invest in a new one but frankly soaking in bleach water and leaving sit out for this long will kill anything contagious so there is not NEED for a new litter box BUT,

If it was me, and money was not an option, I think I would start all over and donate the old box and all belongings to a local shelter and start fresh with a new box, new toys and new kitty to help heal your heart.

Cat owners' prayer: "Lord help me be the person my cat thinks I am"
