Yep, not very long lived around here either. Winston is famous for getting in the cabinet where I keep my replacement feather part. He finds them, rips out the plastic and plays ( read destroys) the toy before it even gets on the pole part.

Emily likes da bird, but likes to destroy the cord by chewing on it. I replaced the cord with a leather boot lace attached to a thin wooden dole and now she can chew on that when she wants without biting it in two. Emily will play for about five minutes before getting tired of it. So far the feathers have been holding up.

This is Caspian's favorite toy. I've noticed something interesting. The replacement feathers I buy from Petco are not as good as the feathers I buy directly from Go Cat.

Buy some of the other attachments like the bugs! They last longer and my cats go nuts over them! TGW, I use windchime string to replace the string when it gets chewed on -- of course the key is to not leave it lying around in the first place!

Marcia:

Sometimes by the time I get the cord away from Emily she has already bitten it in two.

da bird has a very short life span with my 4 kittens. We call it "GRRR" because whichever one gets a good bite on it first, starts a very loud "GRRRR". Komet, the youngest, has the loudest GRRRR and he usually gets it...and then scares the bigger kitties away. "GRRRRR" has to stay locked up and comes out only for special supervised play visits (like to get them in the carrier to go to the vet....to get them in their room....)

Carrie,
Your Komet, and my Banjo, would probably be duking it out, over who "Grrrrs" the loudest and most ferociously, over who gets DaBird! :p
