My cats don't really get along
So, this starts off with my two cats: Charlie and Louie. They were brothers from the same litter. My family adopted them together and they always got along: cuddling, playing and loving each other. Coming up on their third birthday, however, Louie passed away. Three weeks later, we decided to get Charlie a new companion not only so he'd have another playmate, but also to help us feel better after loosing our sweet Louie. So, we decided to adopt a female kitten and named her Sophie. Right away, Charlie was hissing and swatting at her, but we just figured it would take him time to adjust, well it's been three months and they have developed the strangest dynamic.
Sophie absolutely seem to love Charlie. She follows him everywhere, she copies him and she's even started licking his head when he's eating. She gets excited when she sees him and just seems to be obsessed with him, overall. Charlie, on the other had, still can't stand her. He's already a bit of a grump, but gets even grumpier when he sees her. He growls at her all the time and the two have gotten into scuffles regularly (nothing bad, neither one are using their claws). It seems as though Sophie annoys the absolute tar out of him precisely because she follows him around and copies him and licks his head while he's trying to eat. Is there any way I can try to help them kind of come to a middle ground of Sophie not pestering him and Charlie actually getting along with her? Does anyone have any advice?
