cat acting in a different way after move

My name is Geneva, I have a 12-year old black cat named Boo. My husband and I just bought a house in Sacramento, moving from San Jose, where I was born and raised.

I've had cats all my life. I've dealt with all kinds of cat personalities, had male and female cats, indoor and outdoor, mean cats and sweet cats. I've raised cats from brand new kittens, bottle fed orphan kittens, I love cats! Unfortunately, my husband is allergic, but that's another story.

I'm joining this forum because after 12 years with Boo, this new move is bringing out some weird behaviors in him. He's moved with me 6 times in his life, but there's something about this situation that is making him act way out of character.

Hi!
He is a 'Senior' now, so that might be part of it! It gets harder on our pets to make and adapt to the moves we make, as they get older, just as it can for us.

Does he still have his favorite toys and beds?
Does he have a quiet sunny window to look out of?
Is it noisier, or quieter where you've moved to?
Is there more foot traffic, animals or human?

Have you changed any of his other schedules...feeding, play time, cuddle time, litter box cleanings?
Cats thrive on known schedules, not so well, when everything's upside down to them!

All these things, and many others could be influencing his behaviours now.
Give him time, it may take him a while to 'feel' at home, this time around!
Good Luck!

An everyday family name; A particular name;
And the name but the Cat Himself Knows, and will never confess." T.S. Eliot
