okay to keep kitten in same room as pregnant mom?

Iím a nurse in Maryland and love animals, every pet Iíve ever had was adopted or rescued
I recently rescued a male kitten born under a coworkers porch. Two weeks later I got his mother and planned to get her spayed and vaccinated. A few days before her appointment I saw blood stains on the bedroom floor and decided to get mommy cat checked by my Vet. Turns out she was already pregnant again and Vet said too far along to get spayed. I was not expecting this! Vet did ultrasound and only one fetus seen. The mom (Lilly) looks frail but Vet said she seemed OK. Iím taking care of her and trying to build her up nutritionally. I had her son neutered and vaccinated and he,s about 5 months old, and a healthy frisky kitten! I have two other cats, one male, Mogwai, and another female, Buddy. One dog, Angel and she does fine around cats. The kitten likes sharing the spare bedroom with its mom. Wondering if itís okay to keep her kitten in same room when she gives birth to her new kitten?? Have never been in this situation but Iím committed to supporting the mother cat. I already made a comfy nesting box which she is already sleeping in.

It's always better to be on the safe side, and keep the kitten away from its mom while you are at work or not able to supervise. Otherwise the kitten could interfere with the birthing process, get in the way, or even try to nurse on its mom again. Do you know who the sire/father of the unborn kitten is? Is Mogwai neutered? Thank you for being a rescue mom.
