Is integrating 2 more cats possible?
We are on acreage with 2 cats-indoor/outdoor - very sadly, we just put our older cat down due to illness a week ago. So we have one small 5 year old feisty female tabby.
A couple months ago, 2 abandoned (approx 2 year old) siblings (male/female) showed up. We are actively trying to find homes for them but have not been successful. They stay in the barn overnight. Very friendly and not barn cat types. Vet says they have been neutered.
Our original 2 cats are/were very territorial. We separated them from abandoned kitties with a fence but there have been 'accidental' skirmishes.
We want to integrate the new kiddos with our tabby but she constantly growls/hisses through the outside fence or front door, especially at the new boy. And especially if her humans are around. With the weather getting colder, we would like to bring them into the house. We haven't been able to find homes for them.
But I kind of feel hopeless because if our tabby is not putting up with them outside, she will be in constant turmoil if they are in the house - even separated. The odd thing is we got her from a rescue that said she came from a family with 5 other pets.
It almost seems like it is getting worse rather than better. Any ideas?
