I've known for a while that cut pieces of honeysuckle wood drives some cats into ecstatic fits, similar to catnip. Now I'm wondering if some other kinds of wood have the same effect?
The city recently cut down all the trees that used to be out by the public sidewalk, because they died of some kind of fungal disease. I always thought that Sandy rubbed around the trunks of these trees on our walks because some other animal had marked them in some way. Well, now she's going nuts over the cut stumps, scratching and rubbing on the wood, rolling over on her back. (It's a little embarrassing, to be honest.)
Does anyone know if other kinds of wood attract cats? I think these were green ash trees. The tent caterpillars weakened them two years in a row before the fungus took over.
