Some kitties are just "suckers", just like some kids suck their thumbs. Sometimes they grow out of it, and others it's lifelong habit. I had one female breeder that used to suck her own hind toes. It has nothing to do with how old they were when they left their litter or momacat. My Devon "Fitty" ever since I've him as a kitten at 4 mos. old, sucks on one of his own teats (always the same one), and he only does it when he's in my lap and purrs while he does it, doesn't do it with anyone else. He's over 3 yrs. old now and doesn't show any sign of stopping this habit. I had another cat once that sucked on other cats teats that didn't object to it. So these suckers tend to find a way to solve their habit. It's really a soothing thing they do themselves, and observe that they do it when they feel relaxed and often before they have a nap.
