Odd Licking

My cat has just started to do this so it's begining to worry me....she is constantly licking herself around her privates....She is about a year old, I thought maybe she was going to go in heat? If anyone has an idea what this could be, please leave me a post. Thanks

Have you noticed any loss of hair around the backs of her legs and/or stomach? I mean it could be allergies. It could be worms, it could be she is going into heat.

She is about a year old, why hasn't she been spayed? I suggest getting her spayed and also a vet check up to diagnose this correctly.

I don't know what you mean by "constantly" because it's normal for cats to lick themselves there several times a day...they're just cleaning themselves the only way they know how. But if by constantly, you mean several times an hour, then this is not normal, and probably you should have it checked out.

Thank you for the advice. It sucks I can't bring her to a Vet until Monday, because it's New Years. But I will be there on Monday if they can get me in.

If she is unneutered, she probably is in season. Cats lick themselves tons more than dogs do in heat, because they are such fastidiously clean creatures. Is she displaying any other syptoms of heat - overaffection, rolling, flirting, wailing, trying to get out?
Please get her neutered ASAP!!!
