my cat wont eat dried food.

Recently over christmas I let my cat eat allsorts of meat ham, turkey, chicken and beef so you can most probably imagine why im having problems getting him back on dried food. He just won't touch the stuff. A while ago I fed him meat all the time but when he was on meat he did'nt drink enough water and became ill because of it. Well he was took to the vets and it was sorted so I changed his food to dried and he now drinks plenty of water and I have'nt had any problems since. I just can't get him to touch dried food. Has any1 here experienced this or would like to add some advice.

thanks.

How long has he refused the food?
Have you tried wet cat food instead? Wetfood is infact better for them because of the emount of mosture it contains, drinking lots of water is not something cats do naturally because in the wild they get the mosture from thier food.

He's been refusing the food since the day after boxing day when he was first given the food after christmas. I could use moist food but his current food was always fine for him.

If it has been that long then give him some wet food, he must be loosing weight by now.
Cats are funny creatures, if you give them something which spoils them for such a time then they can become stubborn things who refuse anything else.
At least give her some wet food, see how it goes. If sh.e eats that start to introduce the dry food again.

I agree he needs to eat something..........

What does he normally eat just dry food? It would be better for him, health wise, to have canned also. Maybe since you gave him the human food he is holding out for more, lol. I would try giving him canned with the dry, maybe it may be a good change and get his appetite back. cat.

Thanks for the replies everyone I think that'd be the best thing to get some canned food and mix it in with his current food. I'll post back in a couple of days.
