Cat sucking

Hi
This is for Bailey-Jane. She is three years old and still wants to suck. This behavior only happens after I go to bed. She will burrow under the covers and attach herself to my nightie and suck and knit until she falls asleep. If I don't allow her under the covers she uses my nose, ear lobes, anything soft and warm. I've discouraged her by putting her on the floor but she comes right back. She doesn't settle down for the night until she has had her suck time. I need to get some SLEEP. I've tried closing the bedroom door on her but she pounds on the door and cries and cries..... One night she kept it up for an hour! She is very standoffish during the day-- don't bother me I'm sleeping! and will not sit on my lap for any reason unless I put her there and then only until I stop petting her so she has the chance to make a break for it. She was weaned at six weeks because her mother was quite ill and eventually died.

Hey, some cats do it all night!

Hi, Judy, sorry about the joke at your expense, it was too hard to pass up. Anyway, welcome to the forum!

I know this behavior is troubling to you, but it's not really serious, and I think you've already hit upon the reason for it:

You could keep her up more during the day, so she's tired at night, she's old enough she can get by on less sleep during the day. Give her active playtime before you go to bed. And yes, continue trying to keep her out of the bedroom. Don't give in to her pleas. And here's another good topic about an unaffectionate cat:
