twitching

every winter my 12 year old cat, Dinah, starts going crazy. Her skin seems to crawl and twitch and then she runs around or scratches at the door to get out immediately and then runs out like crazy. she bites at the fur a little but only for a second. the vet says she doesn't have fleas and I use advantage on her. can it be dry skin? she seems very uncomfortable, any suggestions?

All of the things you mentioned: twitching skin (along the back), running around like crazy, and biting are all normal behaviors. I'm assuming your concern is because you observe that it's only occuring in the winter and that she's doing it too much?

Does she also get dandruff in the winter? Could be dry skin. You could try some supplements (Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids with Vitamin E).

It could also be static electricity. Much like when we walk across the carpet and touch the door know and get a shock.
You might think about putting in a humidifier.

ok, if you all think its just normal cat behavior, that's good. Nothing looks wrong with her skin and she's been doing it for years so I guess it's nothing too bad. thanks.
