Cat on Tables, Counters, etc.

Y'all were so helpful when I posted about my cat's aggressive "play" (tackling and biting, especially hands and feet) that I figured I'd come to you again. By the way, Kahn almost never bites any more, and all it took was really putting him down, saying no, and not touching him any time he did it. Thanks again!

Anyhow, now, my biggest problem is this: Kahn continues to jump up on the kitchen, dining room, and poker tables, as well as on the kitchen counters. I keep picking him up, telling him "no" sternly, and placing him on the ground, but he continues to do it. My husband said he swatted Kahn on the nose a few times for this (which I've told him not to do, pointing out that he wouldn't swat our children on the nose for a behavior they didn't even understand was wrong). Part of this, at least, is my fault. When we first brought him home, I used to let him sit and sun himself on the dining room table. At first, this was the only table he used, and all I had to do was scold him and remove him from the other tables, and he'd stay off of them. Now, for some reason, he's up on everything. What can I do to stop this?

Oh, by the way, Kahn is about five months old, and we adopted him in December from a local shelter. He will go in to get neutered next month.

I don't know if this is true for every cat, but... I had a friend that had a boy kitten. He pooped and peed in sinks and showers, jumped on counters, got into cupboards, and also jumped on tables. when they got him neutered all of his bad behaviors stopped. So, thats all that I can say. Hopefully Kahn quits sometime!

Cat like to jump............

All cats like to jump, there are deterents you can buy for this, but if you don't want your cat jumping on things, you need to have lots of cat trees so he will have some place to jump.
