The hissing begins

I just brought Daisy home from the vet and no sooner did I get her out of the cage did the cats come up and start hissing. What bothers me the most is her pal Ellie is hissing at her. They are the best of friend. I know she has the "vet" smell. Any advice on what I can do to bring peace back into the house. Thanks

most likely she still "smells" like the vet's office. The others can tell where she's been and don't like it. Give it time, (and give her loooots of hugs, to get the vet smell replaced with a familiar one!)

My method has always been to just ignore it.

You can try a drop of vanilla between everyone's shoulderblades to help confuse the smells a bit. Other than that, monitor them, isolate when necessary, and give them time.

Daisy has pretty much kept to herself today, I've had to do a search a few times today for her. I did bring her some water because I didn't notice that she had drank anything since we got home. The others found us and decided to play in the water bowl with her. She did get one smell and licked on by Bella but Ellie still hisses. I would be upset too if I had surgery to come to like my husband not talking to me, ignoring me, and then yelling when I got close. I have given her a ton of hugs and kisses. I wish I had tomorrow off so I could be with her just in case something happens. I am still paranoid...ugh! I forgot about the vanilla, will have to try that out!
