Ok place to start?

So after doing research of different foods and pricing them, I have decided to go with Wellness grain-free wet food and Wellness Core Dry. My plan is to give her 1/2 of a 5.5 oz can in the morning, 1/4 cup of wellness core at lunch and 1/2 of a 5.5 oz can for supper. How does this sound as a starting point? She currently weighs 16.5 lbs. Also would it upset her stomach if I gave her EVO wet food occasionally? Evo was my first choice, but it isnt available locally and was more expensive than wellness. It is however available in a city nearby that I go to several times a month, so I could pick up a few cans of it then. I was just thinking it would add some variety.

Re: Ok place to start?

Sounds like a lot. One thing to remember is that the better foods are more calorie dense, especially the grain-free dry foods. Are you trying to get her to lose weight or maintain? If it's maintain, I would give the full can of wet per day and cut the dry back to 1/8 cup (2 Tbsp). If you're trying to get her to lose, I'd only give a tablespoon of dry every couple days as a treat and just feed the one can of wet per day. See how she does, if she's losing too fast (more than 1/2 lb per month) then bump up the dry a bit. For reference...1/8 cup of a quality dry food is about equivalent to 1/3 can of a quality wet food in calories. My cats each get 2/3 of a can of wet and 1/8 cup of dry per day. They all maintain their weight very consistently and my male is almost 19 lbs (and not fat).
