is there any way to prevent persian cat from getting colds?

I have a persian cat that I got from a shelter a few months ago. he's the perfect addition to my family. He got a cold about a month after I got him and the vet gave me some antibiotics to clear it up. He sneezes occasionally and sounds conjested in the mornings but feels fine. I know with their little noses that they're susceptable to colds and such, I was wondering if there's anything that I should be doing to prevent them. I give him 1 can of food a day (1/2 in the am, 1/2 in the pm) and he has a good quality dry food supplied all day. (he's not overweight...only 10 lb) After getting him in tip top shape from being in a shelter, he's had only that one cold and he's healthy, energetic and happy besides. Any supplements I should be giving him? Things to look out for?
