Halo Dry Cat Foods.

Does anyone have experience using Halo dry cat foods? Patches refuses to eat anything wet, and gets all dry, the others get dry in the a.m. and a little with their wet at night. I had kept them on Felidae because they did so well on it, but since the formula change, Pesty has just gotten so fat. I just can't get the weight off of him, even with the limited amount of it that he gets.

I have tried other kitty foods, and not had success, or they didn't like them. Patches doesn't do well on higher protein feeds, it gives her runny poop. So I was thinking about trying Halo dry, and wondered if anyone had experience with it? And which one, Indoor formula, or Sensitive Stomache.

The food looks ok

Though dry food and weight loss don't seem to go together.

Re: Halo Dry Cat Foods.

Lots of carbs in there with Pea Protein, Oats, Barley (sensitive), Pea flour. Cats have very little of the digestive enzyme amylase, which is used to digest carbs, because their system isn't designed to eat carbs. Because carbs don't get digested properly they end up being stored as fat. Since most dry foods are high in carbs, cats gain weight on them.

I know all about the carbs in dry food, and that wet is better. Previous to the change in Felidae formula, they never had a weight issue to be concerned about. Even Pesty.

Anyone have experience feeding Halo dry?

Sounds pretty good for dry food.

Two of the sensitive stomach dry foods (turkey and seafood) received the highest ratings on one site that I saw.

Didn't realize Ellen DeGeneres bought a large share of the company this year and is part-owner of Halo. Just a random bit of info...

That's because the change in the Felidae formula upped the grains, and therefore the carbs. I wasn't clear in my previous post, it was late...I never remember the formula for calculating carbs in a food, but the point I was so inadequately trying to make, was that Halo seemed to be pretty heavily carbed (as Felidae is now). Probably worth doing the calculation to see how they compare...
