Buzz is very sick

For the third week in a row Buzz's red blood cell count has gone down. He is on Doxycycline, Prednesolone and Leukeran. The vet says that because he is no longer responding the virus is in his bone marrow. He probably doesn't have much longer.
I am spoiling him as much as I can. Giving him all kinds of special treats to keep him eating and holding him in my lap for as much time as I can. I know that with a FeLV+ kitty this happens, but you can never be really ready for it.

Sue

Re: Buzz is very sick

I'm so very sorry to hear this. It hurts so much.

My jack is having some issues right now and the vet said that FELV is possible but at the back of her mind. So we are trying to do what we can, but the thoughts bring me in tears, i have cried so much today it is not funny and I'm not even sure.

Just hold Buzz, be close and love him. Thats all we can do, we do what we can and give them as much love as possible. I live for Jack and without him, well i dont want to think about that.

My condolences, hugs and prayers are with you and buzz.

Re: Buzz is very sick

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words.
My delema now is when to let him go. He is terrified of going to the vet and I would rather just keep him at home and let him drift away if he is not in pain. I don't know if the end stages of aneima are painful. I guess the best thing to do is just keep him as comfortable as possible at home. If he appears to be in distress I can always change my mind and take him in.

I'm so sorry. Cherish him while he is with you (which I'm sure that you do). All of them go so much sooner than we are ready for.
