New Wellness Core canned foods

Anyone tried these yet? I just got a newsletter from Wellness featuring new Core wet foods for cats & dogs. There's a chicken/turkey/liver and a fish formula. I'll need food this weekend, I'll have to try a couple cans. Here's what the website says:

Wellness has redefined the world of grain-free cat food! We have developed an increased protein diet with 20% more protein than traditional Wellness canned cat diets to support lean muscle mass. We combine 5 quality protein sources with over 80% meat to satisfy the palate and biology of cats, who are obligate carnivores.

Wellness® CORE® Canned Chicken, Turkey & Chicken Liver Formula is an excellent source of high quality protein and essential fatty acids, made with chicken, free of added growth hormones and steroids. We use USDA chicken as our most plentiful ingredient because it is a delicious, digestible protein source. This recipe also includes delicious dried ground potatoes as an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and beta-carotene. Fresh, whole cranberries are added to help maintain proper urinary tract health.

The essence of the raw feeding philosophy is nutrient-rich, high-quality meat - and lots of it. That's the same philosophy behind Wellness CORE. But that's not all. This unique, grain-free formula also supports and nurtures your cat's inside… their essence… their Core.

If you are looking for a canned cat food with more meat and no grains - CORE is truly a more thoughtful alternative. This diet delivers the meat content you're looking for, while creating a balanced profile of real-foods appropriate for everyday feeding.

We use:
5 Quality Protein Sources - Chicken, Turkey, Chicken Liver, Chicken Meal & Turkey Liver

Increased Protein Levels - 20% more protein than traditional Wellness canned diets to support lean muscle mass

Fresh cranberries and carefully controlled magnesium levels - To support urinary tract health

Fish & Flax Omega Blend - To support optimal skin and coat health

Only Healthy Ingredients - No Meat by-products, No Rendered Animal Fats, and No Artificial Flavors, Colors or Preservatives

Is it pate style or are there any chunks at all?

Re: New Wellness Core canned foods

I bought a couple of cans of the chicken/turkey formula a few weeks ago. Jack loved it, but I have yet to find a type of wet food that he won't eat. It was the same price as the regular wellness formula at my local supply store ($1.15/5.5 oz can). EVO is a lot cheaper for me ($1.75/13.2 oz can) so I always end up buying a lot of that, but I will probably continue to add some CORE for variety. I've tried so many different brands that I can't remember for certain what style it was, but I'm pretty sure the chicken/turkey formula was just pate. I didn't try the fish formula. I am going back to the pet store tomorrow, so after I pick up a few more cans I'll be able to tell you for sure.

I hope my local Petco has that. The extra protien content would be great for my FeLV+ kitties. Thanks for sharing.

Re: New Wellness Core canned foods

It's a hit! They loved it. No sniffing or looking at me with the "what is this crap?" look they usually give when presented with a new food. They just dove in and started eating and licked the bowls clean. Now I just need to watch the litterbox to make sure Miss Holly doesn't have any issues with it.

Re: New Wellness Core canned foods

The Petco near me did not have it and when I asked they said they have not even been able to get the canned Wellness core for dogs. (As if dog food is more important! Harrumph!)
