EYE INFECTION help please

My cat couldnt open her eye today. she walked pretty slowly up the stairs to eat her food as well. She ate her food slowly but she ate most of it. I brushed it with a warm wet cloth towel and the eye opened up. The eye itself is not very red, but under the eye was noticably swollen. Does anyone know what this could be?

Definitely a trip to the vet is in order. It sounds like your cat may have some sort of abscess or other infection near her eye. She's most likely in need of antibiotics, and the swelling may need to be opened and drained.

Re: EYE INFECTION help please

It could be many things, from an injury to a bug bite to an infection. I let the vets handle all eye problems. Eyes are very important and I don't mess around with them. If you use the incorrect medication for an eye problem, it can damage it permanantly. This is why I let the vet examine and determine the best course of action.
