Dorn Dripping from mouth.

Hey guys..havent been around in awhile...

Anyways The last few days I have been noticing dorn leaking water from his mouth. I could not figure out where it was coming from but lastnight when he was laying on the back of my chair I looked up at him and he was dripping from his mouth.. It leaks at a pretty good rate. I called the vet and she said he can get in Friday... I think thats awhile to wait....is there anything I should be worried about?? He is only 4 BTW.

His activity is 100% normal... He drinks, eats, plays, and uses his litter box as usual...he has no idea he is leaking I think...

Thanks!
Matt

Re: Dorn Dripping from mouth.

More than likely a bad tooth. Are you able to get a look in his mouth? Is he eating OK?

Re: Dorn Dripping from mouth.

Look for missing teeth, red/swollen gums, any teeth out of place or a foreign body stuck between his teeth.

Quite some time ago, Malibu came inside sort of pawing at her mouth. She'd try to close it, it wouldn't close all the way and she'd rub her face with her paw and try to close it again. When I looked in her mouth, one of her smaller upper molars was pointed in towards her tongue. Every time she tried to close her mouth, that tooth would poke her tongue.
I reached in, hoping to just push it back into alignment, but it popped right out and flung away from us. She was instantly relieved and closed her mouth. I went and found her tooth and I've saved it. I can only think she 'broke' it chewing on the body/bones of some little critter she hunted/caught.

I'll add anything that looks like pus or a sore to Heidi's list.

Re: Dorn Dripping from mouth.

I am kind of worried...

This dripping is profuse. He was laying on my bed for a few hours..and he left a wet spot about the size of a Compact Disc...

I think I am going to call tomorrow and tell them it is kind of urgent.

Re: Dorn Dripping from mouth.

I agree, I wouldn't want to wait till Friday either. Something definitely isn't right.

Re: Dorn Dripping from mouth.

I would keep a very close eye on him until then and if anything has you worried don't hesitate to find an after hours clinic that can see him tonight.

Such profuse drooling is for a reason.

Usually, if its a mouth problem it'll be a good bit of drool but you'll more than likely notice some sort of odor or discomfort.

I would assume something like he may have gotten into some sort of toxin... the problem came on suddenly and there is a lot of drool coming from his mouth... that would seriously worry me.

Sometimes cats will drool when they are nauseous but again, its usually not such a large amount of liquid.
