HELP !!! Scooter is throwing up !!

Scooter has thrown up 3 times this morning ... the first two were foamy white stuff, the 3rd time was his breakfast.

I'm extremely concerned because Tobie started throwing up that foamy white stuff about 4 months before I had to put him to sleep. Neither of my other two cats has thrown up.

Unfortunately, right now we have like 8-10" of snow on the roads and there is NO way I can get to the vet office. They are probably not even open.

Any ideas???

Re: HELP !!! Scooter is throwing up !!

I don't think I would be alarmed, though that is unusual to have that many vomitting episodes in a day, or even a few days. I would maybe offer him some light/soft food (cooked chicken?) a small amount of canned or a tiny bit of dry kibble, just to get something in his tummy. If he can hold that down, then maybe a little more in a few hours and again, a bit more in a few hours.
Myself, I would only get alarmed if the vomitting had other symptoms, like refusing to eat/drink and acting lethargic.
However, this is YOUR cat and you know your cat the best. Keep an eye on the kitty and do the best you can until you can reach a vet (by car or phone) for advice.
Heidi

Re: HELP !!! Scooter is throwing up !!

Thanks Heidi I talked to the vet and he only wants to see Scooter if the throwing up continues. He's not lathargic and he is eating and drinking. Checked his stool and it was a little runny, but thats about it.

I'll just keep an eye on him for now and give him some chicken or some good kibble.

Whew! I'm glad he seems to be feeling a bit better, or at least not acting like he is at death's door. Good job you were able to speak to your vet, I bet that did more to relieve your anxiety over Scooter than anything.
Sending good wishes,
Heidi

He may just have a hairball brewing, I'd give him a healthy dose of hairball remedy or Vaseline and see how he does.

Vomiting has stopped and he is eating fine again ... Not sure what the problem was, but he seems to be back to his old self.

Re: HELP !!! Scooter is throwing up !!

That is very good news Anne.

I read your story, and immediately thought of my own kitty who has been at the vets for a whole week now, because of vomitting... so mine has not been as lucky as yours this week. I didn't want to scare you with my story when you first posted, but I was keeping an eye on your post to make sure he was doing ok.

I'm glad to hear your kitty is doing better now

Re: HELP !!! Scooter is throwing up !!

Blue .... Nope, he loves having his tummy rubbed and was letting me rub it last night and again today. He is still eating tons and playing with Da Bird as much as I'll let him.

Katt... I did see your post and it did scare me a little, but when Scooter stopped vomiting, my fears were gone. I'm sorry your kitty isn't doing so well and I hope he gets better really fast !!!
