I need some advice - insulin or change in diet?

Hi our indoor cat Perkins went to the vet because he was drinking a lot of water. His blood sugar is 375. We went to two different vets, one said to use insulin the other said try to get the blood sugar down by changing his diet to ROYAL CANIN Glycobalance and then to come back in a month to check his sugar again. I don't know which one is right, so I could us some advice. Thanks

Both may be correct. I would try changing his diet first and than going back to see if his blood sugar went down. It's less invasive. It's not always easy to give cats medication, it is much easier to change his food first. We had a childhood cat that was diabetic, and we had to give him injections...Not Easy!!! If after the month and his blood sugar is still high, than you might not have a choice but to give him insulin. Good Luck!

I would try diet first as well. Give it a few months then take him back to be tested again.

What have you been feeding him in the past?
