Kidney failure advise/ question

Hi

I adopted two beautiful, amazing senior male cats a couple of years ago. They are now around 10 years old and the vet just informed me that they both have elevated kidney levels. I am of course devastated to hear this and have spent the last few hours researching things I can do for this. I am hoping there are some people on this forum who have knowledge and suggestions they can share with me, as well as giving an opinion on their numbers.
I currently only give them wet food and of high quality (mainly Ziwi Peaks).
Before the vet did the blood test, the cats had been fasting for over 12 hours prior, as they were having a dental cleaning performed same day. I read somewhere that this can effect the numbers. Is that true?
The vet recommends fluids for them and also to have an abdominal scan performed to eliminate cancer as a cause of kidney failure. Is this something you recommend I do?

Here are the results from one cat. Results are almost identical:

Creatinine: 3.2
BUN 11.6
Phosphorus: 4.5
SDMA (New kidney function test): 16

I greatly appreciate your time!

I hadn't heard of an SDMA test. I just read about that, very interesting.

I'm not one of the feline kidney health experts, but one thing they will probably want to see is the full list of laboratory results and especially each item's "normal" range as individual labs can vary.

In the meantime, please check the website www.felinecrf.org where there is SO much information on caring for and hopefully extending the life of your handsome boys.

And lastly, if the vet is a professional you've used before and trust, I would be inclined to follow their advice. The plan of action seems reasonable. But again, I'm not one of the forum "experts" on this.

Thank you so much for your input.
I attached the lab results if that helps the experts. Here the range of each number is listed.
