New Kitten!

Well I found this little fellow or gal I don't know which one yet in the trash! Yes in the trash! I brought it home and it seems to be rather tame to be a feral cat. I do not know how old it is. It looks to be about 6 to 8 weeks but I am guessing. Trouble I having is that I have not been able to get it eat anything. Its only been a couple hours since I brought it home am I rushing things?

The poor thing is likely scared. Makes sense considering it was found in the trash so there is no knowing what happened to it before you found it. I'd try leaving it some food if at all possible or maybe even try diluting wet food if your really not sure about it's age.

It may just an adjustment thing but that still may make it easier for the poor kitten to eat.

It really makes me sad.....I brought the little thing home because I could not leave it in the cold and wet to die......and cannot afford another one but oh well.....We have it in a pet taxi with some wet kitten food and blankets along with a play toy.......Our male cats are not to hip on it and my female hisses and spews at it but they will find their niche.

Just out her/him away in spare bathroom/room. She is for sure scared of new place and cats. She might need a litter box too. And I guess that doesn't fit in carrier.

Oh poor little thing. Thank goodness you found him/her. I agree popping the kitten into a room by them selves with the food water litter box( you can make a temp one using a foil tray) and the carrier would be good, so the kitten can get time to overcome the trauma, a radio playing softly would be company. Just visit every so often to check on them and get them used to you. I would contact your local groups and rescues (no kill) as they may have a space to take in this little one. Or if he stays with you till a new home is found may be able to help with treatments etc.

I got a large enough carrier from a relative so it has plenty of room.

Bless you for your kind heart. How is the little one doing today? Will it eat yet? Is it warm now? Maybe kitten milk is the correct food? So many questions for such a tiny critter!

Doing OK.....Now I have the problem of getting it to use the litter box.....I tried a paper towel with warm water and got nothing. I keep sticking him in the litter box and taking his paw and scraping but he still has not used it at all......
