Amitriptyline for Behavioural Issues

Has anyone had any experience with their cat taking Amitriptyline?
Background: We have 3 cats, Lucy 15 Female, Hollinger 2 Male, Tofu 2 Male.
We adopted Tofu 4 months ago, he was rescued from a Ragdoll breeding hoarding situation. 60+ cats in a 1 bedroom apartment. Luckily he was okay physically but behaviourally we haven't been able to integrate him with the other two. He gets anxious and overstimulated and he bit Hollinger during a supervised meeting which caused Holly to develop an abscess and unpleasant trip to the vet. After he recovered we've done some more supervised meetings between them but they always end in Tofu intimidating and attacking the other cats. Since we've been trying for so long with no success our vet has recommended we put Tofu on anti-anxiety medication.
Just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation, if they've used Amitriptyline, if it was effective, side effects, etc?
We love Tofu, he's an incredibly sweet cat to us and he's had a really tough life, we just want the cats to start getting along or at least tolerating each other.
Thanks in advance!
