constipated cat

He is constipated so have been feeding him wet food along with Laxalone. He started popping(was hard) but now that I have switched him over too pureed pumpkin in his wet food he stopped pooping. Mind you it's been only one day. How long does it take for the pumpkin too soften up his poop?

Give it another day. You can also add about a teaspoon of water to the food, or enough to make it a pudding consistency. That should get things moving.

Hi Dee,

If the pumpkin doesn't work to keep your kitty pooping normally, ask your vet if you can give Miralax. It's more a preventive measure than a solution, but if your kitty has recurrent issues, it works well to give it daily. One of my kitties was on it, and it worked really well for a very long time.
