Wounded kitty .... deep hole in thigh with balding due to licking

Hello, everyone! Recently my tuxedo cat , Figaro escaped and was outside for a couple of hours. When he came back he was acting a little bit shaken but was back to himself within a day. Today (around a week later) I notice he was licking for a long time, I went to check it out and found a red hole in his leg! My first thought was botfly or something similar , but maybe he was in a scuffle? I won’t be able to bring him to the vet for about a week, and I was wondering if anyone could give insight to what this might be!

Gunshot wound? Pellet gun? Please get him to the vet! This needs to be checked out! You don't want a secondary infection starting!
Wishing you both the Best outcome!

Did you feel anything in and around the wound. There could be a pellet still inside.

Don't be to critical of a mistake. It is evidence that at least
someone tried to do something.

It could be an abcess that he has licked open, which is a good thing. Make sure it stays open. It will need to heal from the inside out. Warm wet washcloths a couple times a day will keep it from scabbing shut.

Hi Brittany, have you taken him to the vet yet?
Checking in to see how you're both doing...
