Cat suddenly eating less
My cat Tango is 15 years old. Starting this week, he started only eating around half of what's on his plate. He will only now eat wet food and totally rejects his dry food. With the wet food, I have to constantly wet it with water to lure him back to eat a few bites only and then he wanders off. I notice he is thinner but otherwise he is acting normally. He is not lethargic, he hangs out with the family on the couch, meows, chirps and trills as usual when spoken to.
I have a vet appointment for him tomorrow but I'm super worried about him. He is usually a gobble monster and always wants more food but to see him only eat half his plate worries me. He is drinking water as usual. The only thing that really seems to eat is giving him bits of cooked chicken liver but I know I cannot give him this all the time.
Recently my dad was diagnosed with heart failure so he's not acting the same as he's been very anxious and depressed about his diagnosis and we've all been on edge lately as well. I'm wondering if my cat is picking up on this and he is depressed? Or it's some sort of physical ailment.
I suppose I'm looking for some reassurance or if anyone else has had a cat suddenly eat less but otherwise be normal behaviour-wise.
