The Value of blood work

I haven't posted regularly since life has taken me away from being owned by a cat, hopefully in a few months I will adopt again. But I check in from time to time and see a constant in many of the posts regarding cats suddenly becoming ill.

More and more vet science is providing us with options to treat our friends, but a key is early detection. As we know cats being stoics they can't let on when all is not well. Particularly in seniors THIS is where the value of regular blood work, perhaps as much as every 4-6 months is essential. Now I know finances may prevent many of us from doing this- it did for me, but for my next cat after the age of say 8-9 yrs I will do everything I can to do this. Their problems do not develop suddenly or overnight. I daresay at a certain age this is more important than what you feed your cat. You can develop a 'safe zone' when you have values in the blood work to compare over time and be proactive.

I hope this helps.
