He meows in the litter box :-\

Not sure why, he doesn't seem to have constipation or anything... his food has fiber in it also, from psyllium, and not too much of it either, which can also be bad... but ever since day one, he meows when he's defecating in the litter box... Not only during, but also right before, when he's making the hole in the litter... I'm worried -- tomorrow's his first vet. visit, so I'll ask then, but I'm not sure what they'll recommend since most frown upon raw diets. Any ideas?

My kitty does close to what you're say but he only meows before he goes and only if he's going at night

He does it whether he's peeing or have bowel movements

though during the day if he has to go he won't meow.

I don't know why he does it but i don't think he's in any pain. no signs or UTI or constipation.

Mayhaps it's just a weird querk?? but be sure to ask the vet anyway since you're goin there anyway!

Best of Wishes!

{Edit} P.S. when he meows i think he wants me to come and watch him because he'll lead me over to the litter box and if i pet him or sit there he'll go, other times i'm too tired and just let him go on his own

My Dusty will often meow very loudly AFTER he has done his business in the box. It's like a little announcement for me to come clean it up...
