Herpes Conjunctivitis??? *Update*

Ok, so I went home for lunch and noticed that Scotty had green eye boogies, and his right eye was squinted and watery. So, I took myself to littlebigcat.com and found an article (by Dr. Jean, of course) about the herpes conjunctivitis virus and decided that the best I could do right then was irrigate the eye with the homemade saline solution (I wasn't sure how well any of my contact saline stuff would work on a cat, so I wasn't even going to try it). That seemed to help him a bit (the eye was still watery, but not nearly as squinted).

I've already setup a vet appointment for tomorrow, but I was just wondering...how likely is it that he's got herpes? He has been sneezing, but no disharge (thank GOD). And if it's up in the air (i.e. no way to tell without a test), what can I do in case it is herpes, but won't do anything bad if it isn't? I'm not sure how bad it could be if I waited to help before tomorrow's vet appointment.

This is the article I read: http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?a ... unctivitis

Ok, just got back from the vet...it's NOT the worst that I feared. He has a small scratch on his right cornea, which has caused enough irritation for there to be "eye boogies."

I got some non-steriod antiobiotic to put on his eyes twice a day. YAY! He's not sick!
