Good news about Sabby's health

Sabby's no longer diabetic! I didn't know that was even possible. The vet called him a "transient diabetic." He says he might become diabetic again or he might not.

I took Sabby to the vet last night to have him checked for a UTI and to have his blood glucose levels checked. His blood glucose was at 98. His urinalysis showed no signs of a UTI, but his urine was more dilute than what would be considered normal. That means that the behavior he's been exhibiting lately (spraying) is behavioral and I have to go back to Litter Box 101 to figure out why he's doing it. The dilute urine, I'm told, is the first sign of kidney failure. My vet told me not to worry, though, because most cats start having this problem at 12 years of age and Sabby is almost 16. He says Sabby will probably pass away of old age before he dies of kidney failure. He told me to look out for extreme hunger and extreme playfulness (for Sabby's age) as these might be signs of hyperthyroidism.

So, it was all pretty much good news. I'd like to thank Dr. Jean, Dr. Rehmer, and the makers of Wellness Cat Food for the good news.

That is great news!!
Korbel was diet controlled for 3 years. She was on insulin for about 6 or 7 months. She needed to get the sugars down to a level that her pancreas could handle it. Once it was under control her body could take care of minor swings in glucose on it's own. But, she was always sensitive to glucose. If she got into dry food, it would send her back up into the 300s until she got a shot or 2 to help get back down. That lasted for 3 years. Then she had a series of dental infections that I think ruined what little working pancreas she had left She's needed insulin ever since (2 years now).
When she first went off of insulin, my vet did tell me that it could last anywhere from a few days to years to life!

Thanks guys! I couldn't wait to share the news.

As for the spraying, I'm stumped. You don't think it would have anything to do with my pregnancy, do you?

GOsh Anissa, I didn;t even think of that....but I bet yo its a possibility....if Sabby is somehow aware that you are pregnant, he may be feeling threatened, even though the baby isn;t here yet.....you may have a case of sibling rivalry on your hands!!!!
