Found my missing cat

About a month ago, my 14 year old cat ran away. I found her last night, in pretty good health. She's lost some weight, but other than that, she looks fine. She's got a nasty infestation of fleas, and I have her on Frontline to take care of them. I want to take her to the vet, but I have heard that I should wait for a day or two to get rid of the fleas.

What should I have the vet check for? She has always been an indoor cat, so I want to have her rabies vacination done, but what other things should I have her looked at for?

You should probably take in a stool sample to check for roundworms. Tapeworms are also a possibility since they are transmitted by fleas, but those don't usually show up in a stool sample.

Glad to hear you found your kitty!

Blood tests for FeLV and FIV. You need to wait for some time before doing this. How long, I don't know. Your vet can tell you.

Heartgard for heartworms.

I'll bet you're relieved!!
