Missing Claw- question

My cat Spooky and my black lab finally met face to face...well lets say it wasn't the most formal meeting!

My cat was rather traumatized (sp?) after it was all over with and there was blood on the floor where his claw has come out of his paw - some of his other nails were in shreds and broken. I put some anti-bacterial ointment on his paws- Did I do the right thing? Will his claw eventually come back?

I don't know whether the claw will come back or not, the most important thing right now is to get your kitty to the vet ASAP. The wound needs to be looked at and your vet will prescribe an antibiotic to prevent a potentially fatal bacterial infection that can develop from something like this.
Please call your vet for an appointment without delay.

Thanks for the post - and I'm taking him to the vet tommorow (thats the soonest I could get in) ... I hope this vet is prepared for a bite because Spooky doesnt want ANYONE touching his poor paw.
