Inconsistent Wellness

I know some members here feed their cats Wellness brand food. I've been using it for a little over a year and I find it to be very inconsistent. Here's what I mean:

The first case of canned turkey & salmon had a light fluffy consistency to it. The next case was much more firm. The next case was like the first one, and the most recent case is heavier and wetter and breaks apart easily. Plus it smells stronger.

The canned chicken I get has been consistent up until the most recent case and this time it is wet and sloppy where all other cases previously were more firm.

Now with the bagged dry food, the pieces are about 50% larger in size than ever before.

Previously I had ordered through drsfostersmith.com but this time I went through pet food supplies because my original supplier was out of stock on what I needed.

I can't find a website for contact info for Wellness. I'm just wondering why it's so inconsistent. Do they constantly change the way they make things or are their workers just not good at following a consistent formula in production?

Anyone else notice this?

They probably don't have their own production facilites. I suspect that's the reason....because it's farmed out to various manufacturers who, while producing it to Wellness'es specs, have different sources for raw materials and different processes. Wellness may not be monitoring the end product closely enough.

Actually I have noticed that myself....I thought at first that the varying temperature in my apartment was the reason for the inconsistency! ha!

Wellness is made by Old Mother Hubbard. Their website is:

The only inconsistency I found was the amount of moisture in the food. Well, and that one time I found a blue piece of plastic in the food as I was cutting it up. That was pretty inconsistent.

I think Tim may be correct, or at least close with his reasoning. A few weeks ago I emailed Petfooddirect.com to see when they were expected some more canned Wellness in (its been out of stock forever!!) and the customer services people explained that since its such a small company, they have to wait in line behind all of the human food production until there's space and time to make their product. As soon as they get a place to start making it, they'll start shipping it out again, but until then its going to be hard to find.

I hadn't really noticed anything specific, other than when I made the switch from 6oz cans to the 12oz. The consistency of those are different... But I buy so much of so many different flavours at a time, I guess I just thought it was different between flavours...

This is what they said:

Thank you for contacting Old Mother Hubbard. We have a few satellite
facilities manufacturing our items and that each facility uses the same
formula when producing our products. We do not use stabilizers, therefore,
at times, their may be a slight color, odor or consistency variation that
should not be visible from a quality perspective. Please know that we have
quality measures in place to streamline every batch.

Felix does look a lot like Baxter, especially because he has white on only half of his face.
