curious cat

hi my kittys being weired, hes 20 and the vet says his kidneys arnt as good as they used to be, they said this about 2 years ago and so i gave him a fresh bowl of water every night at exactly the same amount so i could see how much he was drinking, and as you would expect he progessivly drunk more and more, and over the 2 years got to drinking half a bowl every day and eating 3/4 of a tin of felix. but recently has started drinking less, yesterday drank hardly any and is having about 1 tin of food. this seemed a bit odd, as surely he would contiue to eat less and less and drink more and more, but it is the other way round, he also looks like he has gained a little weight and looks really healthy, has thre been some miracle and his kids are all good again or is this completley normal, or is it down to the fact that recenly it has been raining and misrable and doesnt get as thirsty as it isnt hot??

well any thoughts would be good, thanks.

I don't have any answers for you but just want to comment on how great that your cat has lived to be 20! I hope my cat lives that long too, she is 14 right now. You must be doing everything right !
