Fancy Feast

I feed my cats the Fancy Feast brand of cat food. I just read on another post that isn't one of the better choices. What do you feed your cats?

Life may not always be the party we thought it would be, but while we're here, we might as well dance!

Yep, Fancy Feast is like going to McDonalds daily. Kitties LOVE it, but there's better foods out there.

For mer, personally I feed:

Dry food:
Felidae, Natural Balance, Chicken Soup For The Cat Lover's Soul

Wet food (different flavors of each):
Natural Balance, Eagle Pack, Precise, Wellness, Merrick, Nature's Variety

That's just what *I'm* happy feeding and what my kitties are happy eating.

If you want to feed your kitty better foods the first step is to educate yourself on what are good and not-so-good ingredients in cat food, then go from there.

Wellness canned . When we are gone for a day or two and she gets dry food - Chicken Soup for the Cat Lovers Soul.

I have heard cats who lived for more than 20 years eating Fancy Feast. While it is not one of the better brands I wouldn't worry about giving it to your kitty.

I've been experimenting. Right now it's a mix of the following:

Innova
Evo
Wellness
Addiction

Mine get Wellness and Natural Balance wet. As an occasional snack they get Evo dry.

Thank you all so much for the information.

Where do you buy these brands of food metioned and how expensive are they?

Also, how good are brands like Science Diet and Iams?

I would say that the dry forms are bad and the wet forms are mediocre.

You can order many of these brands online, but it may be cheaper to find a local vendor. Where do you live?

Online you can get 12 cans of the 12.5oz wellness for $30 shipped to the midwest. That comes out to about $0.20 per oz. That's a bit expensive, most likely you are paying something like $10 for 24 3oz fancy feast, or about $0.13 per oz. Locally I can get wellness for $1.49 per 12.5 oz can, which is about $0.12 per oz.

Really if you are willing to go with the larger can sizes, it's going to be a wash for wet food. Dry food will be a bit pricier for stuff like Evo or Innova - maybe two or three times as expensive.

Looks like 2-3x was an exaggeration. Seems like the natural stuff is at most 70% more expensive from what I can gather.

Unfortunately, shengmei, that kind of information is anecdotal, at best. Some of the world's oldest people drank and smoked quite heavily, which just proves how much good genes can contribute to longevity
