Litter and wet food ?'s

How often do you change the litter box? I have 2 cats and 3 boxes. I change all 3 every 4-5 days. The litter packaging says to change it every 3-4 weeks. I can't let it go that long. I scoop a minimum of three times a day because my darlings wont use a soiled box (they just use a clean one if necessary).

Also-
My cats will not eat wet food. I've tried all kinds of food and they like the gravy in the Nutro Natural Choice best. They wont eat the chunks though. They lick wet food a little bit if I put it out for them but they really like to crunch their kibble. I want to try to get them to eat some wet food, any suggestions?

We use tidy cat crystals for our one cat and change the whole box every week (even though they say it would last 60 days) I stir the crystals and clean out the poop two or three times a day. I like our bathrooms very clean and I'm sure she does too !

Rocky switched from dry food to canned food so easily. She loved it at first bite. She eats Wellness. Turkey is her favorite. I think all cats have their own tastes just like people do.

I change mine every 3-4 days too. And scoop contsantly!
I switched mine from dry to wet a couple of years ago. They did not like it at first. It took some serious persistance but after a couple of months they were fine.

One other thing I found was they would not eat any chunky type food. As you said, they'd just lick the gravy. Patte was what finally worked for them. They get Wellness and Natural Balance.

Wow... 3-4 days. That has got to be expensive! I would be in the poor house if I did that. Then again, I have really large litter boxes.

My cats won't touch the chunks in chunky cat food. Try the pate type. You could even add a touch of water to it so it's not as pasty. Some brands are stickier than others and my cats have a harder time eating the stickier types. I do this (add a little water and mix it in) with my cats' canned food and they eat it all. As for brands, cats have different tastes. You'll probably have to try several brands to see which your cats like best. Initially you'll probably have some waste but that gets better once you find the brands your cats will eat. Mine like Eagle Brand, Merrick, Wellness and Natural Choice canned foods and they only like turkey and chicken flavors and sometimes fish. None of my cats will eat beef or liver flavors.

They are big boxes, and I am broke!-lol
I appreciate your suggestions and will try them. I am glad I'm not crazy with the litter thing. I just can't see only changing the whole box 1-2 times a month. I don't want to smell litterbox-I'm sure Tyger and Valentine don't want to either! My toilets get scrubbed once a week (at least) so I figure the cats should get the same.

We change the litter depending on how much is in the box. Too much and ammonia levels with rise. I like using a litter locker (similar to a diaper genie for baby diapers). It's quick and easy! I want an automatic litter box someday. My too cats use the litter box way too much it seems.

I empty and refill the litterbox every day. It's really not such a big job if you use a plastic liner for the box. You just remove and discard the liner and the used litter, make sure the box is clean (the liner can get small tears and leaks), add a new liner, and refill.

I don't want my home to smell like a litterbox, and my cat likes having a really clean place to use.
