Favoring his front left paw

My tabby cat, Laurence, began favoring his front left paw on Sunday. At first he wouldn't walk on it, and today he was still limping.

Nothing appears to be wrong on his paw and he doesn't protest when we examine it. We have a vet appointment for Friday, but I have no idea what might be going on. A sprain? A pinched nerve?

Is this the sort of thing we might see improvement in a couple of days, or could it indicate something more serious? He's not running like he usually does, but he appears to be happy otherwise.

When you say "At first he wouldn't walk on it, and today he was still limping. " do you mean that it's better today than it was Sunday? Could be a mild sprain or strain. If it's getting better day by day, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Cats heal fast. But by all means, keep your vet appointment if he's still limping on Friday.
