hi everyone

I have a quick question My cat tyson has been scratching his ears like crazy for the past week. he is now scratching all the hair off and causing scabs. Do you guys have any idea what it could be and what i could do to relieve the problem without taking him to the vet. I will take him to the vet this week if nobody has any ideas.

Thank you very much in advance

Ear mites? Food allergy?

Try doing a 'search' using your key words, there have been a few recent posting that may give you more insight,

sorry I couldn't be much help, but I haven't any first hand experience with that, yet...

Unfortunately, here's no way anyone here can give you a diagnosis, we can only guess. Only a vet who sees him will be able to tell you what it is and treat him.
It could be a few things, as CD said, ear mites, allergies, fleas, stress.... My guess would be ear mites but I think you need to bring him into a vet and get it checked out. He must be very uncomfortable and more than likely it's easily treated.
Good luck and let us know how he's doing!

update

lol it's a stupid allergy. I have a pansy kitty who allergic to cat food. Sorry I just find it kind of silly, so he is on pills and ointment and hypoalogenic food for 6-8 weeks and then we can try him on normal food to see if we can find one that he is not allergic to. Aww i Love my little guy and hate to see him in pain. so hopefully it will help and make him feel better

Could you share the details of what food you have been feeding him and the Vet's opinion of what in the food it may be?

For the food he has been on.. he was on Iams indoor cat adult formula. He has been on there for awhile and the vet is pretty sure that is what caused it becasue we had just recieved a bag of "vet food" and had started it him on it last week and this issue arose 2 weeks before, but not this bad. The vet also said that cats will build up anti bodies and become allergic. I was pretty shocked I never knew cats could be fine for awhile on a cat food and then suddenly develop allergies. I learnd something new today.
