runnny nose cat, going on vacation

My 11 month old male tabby has a runny nose. It is clear. The other night in bed I was petting him and he seemed to be a little wet. I thought he just maybe came upstairs from drinking water, but it was sticky. I thought either maybe blood or his anal sack problem. No blood and it didnt stink, so i knew it was his nose. He isn't sneezing or anything and is eating and playing. My concern is we are going on vacation the 17th and don't want to leave him if he is sick. I just looked at him and his nose was runny again. Should I watch him for a few days, or be on the safe side and take him to the vet? How can you tell, besides taking temperature, if he has one?
Thanks

If I were you and that was my cat, I would feel better calling my vet and explain the runny nose and the fact you are going on vacation soon. Maybe over the phone they will tell you it is fine or just keep an eye on him until you leave but if he/she wants you to bring your kitty in do that. I think you will enjoy your vacation more if you aren't worried about your baby. Sometimes cats noses can be wet but I don't think mine ever has had it run. Maybe other posters can be of more help on this. Its probably nothing serious but best to take care of it before you leave. Enjoy your vacation !
