Tough day today

I took two of my foster babies in today for their adoption. I always worry when I drop them off - will their new momma know to kiss Elvis like I do? Will Eva bond with her like she did with me?? Will they let these babies sleep with them like we did? We've had Elvis and Eva since they were barely 4 weeks old and are now 4 months old. Through a very serious injury they've been by my side and part of the family. It's hard to let them go. All I have now are two black babies names Larry and Lexi and I am REALLY struggling with letting them go. They are SUPER sweet and adorable and I'm having separation issues just thinking of adopting them out. UGH! Why do I do this to myself!

Keep your paws crossed for me that Elvis and Eva will bond tightly with their new family!

Hi Marcia!
Elvis and Eva are adorable!
What a great picture of Larry and Lexi! Two little heads, both tilting the same way!! They look like little snuggle bunnies!:p
ARGH! I don't envy you...having to make such hard decisions!
(((HUGS)))!!!

So hard for you!

I'm sure you would always do what you think is best but if ever you do decide to keep some, you would be amazing with them as well. I admire you so much.

You are a stronger woman than I am for sure. I'm thankful that there are people like you out there. Without them, I wouldn't have my Amelia. I send Amelia updates to her foster mom every so often. Are you ever in touch with the forever families?

I always give my contact info but I do not initiate the contact. The shelter always makes call backs and I fear yet another would annoy them. It's easier for me that way to let go. Occasionally I will call but rarely. Only about 10% bother to give me an update. Some do regularily on my Facebook page (anyone can PM me if they want to friend me and I'll give you my full name - fair warning, I do get into some political stuff there).

Last night was especially hard because I missed Eva so much and worried about her, her surgery and her happiness which I'm sure is scarce. She is timid around strangers but a love bug eventually so I hope it's soon for her peace of mind.

If I had been you I would be a cat hoarder because I would be a lost cause and have wanted to keep them all. I would also want to grill the adoptees, to the point where it would be like a special forces boot camp, hence not being a fosterer, for everyone's sake. But thats what makes you so special, giving these lttle ones the best chance at the start.
There is a special bond with these, probably because of the injury when they nursed you in their own little way, let alone their super cuteness. Do Elvis and Eva have a family already.

Jenny, if we keep little black boy and girl that will make #7 and #8! Dangerously close to hoarding if you ask me. I have some lee way as to who can adopt if the kittens are still in my home but if I bring them into the shelter, the shelter has only has 3 simple requirements:
Be 18 or older with a picture ID
Renting your home? Provide a copy of your lease
Resident cats and/or dogs? Provide proof of rabies and city license.

That's it! The down side is it's very difficult to show them from home but I have no control as to who can adopt if they come in to the shelter. I've watched with horror as some horrible people have come in and adopted other's fosters so I am reluctant to let my babies go to just anyone.

Awww, that is so sweet!!!

When I adopted my first cat, I was in touch with the rescuer because she wanted to make sure it was going well, and she had a bit more trouble letting go than usual. I was so happy that my kitty had made such an impression on someone else first. I sent her updates and photos.

My newer kitty was born in foster care, one of four I think, and I wonder if her foster parent felt the same way as you? She is SO PRECIOUS, and everyone that meets her falls in love instantly. She's well-loved in my house.

I've reached 9 - no new ones for about a year - and not looking - I don't think I've reached hoarding yet.

I so feel for you in terms of letting go. I do a lot with wild animals but with cats......
