Bedtime suckling: The addiction.

Skylar's addicted to suckling on Brody until she falls asleep every night. It started with anywhere - a let, her side, etc. Then eventually it moved to under Brody's neck, and now... her lips, specifically the corner of her mouth. It was cute at first, and now its getting pitiful. Poor Brody just sits there and lets her do it... she tries to move her head side to side. Nothing works. She'll even sit up to look out the window and have a kitten hanging on for dear life Plus, the "suck suck suck" noise is just short of gross when I'm trying to sleep.

But there's not much I can do other than keep them apart at night, and I don't really want to do that.

So instead, I take pictures and videos to blackmail them with later in life

"Hey, you mind coming down here??"

"Better, just a little bit more"

"Gotta get juuuuuuust right"

"Not quite, almost there"

"Hey! Get back here!"

"Ahhh, much better!"

It really is kinda cute though. She's just kneading away in the first video, and the second shows the real fight to keep the lips!

And just to show that they can cuddle without the nursing (but not often!)

"Do you mind?"

"Are you still up? No? Ok... just checking"

Awwwww this is the cutest thing in the world! Brody really is one true sweetheart, to let the kitten suck on her like that... what a pitiful expression on her face

Poor, pitiful Brody. What a good baby!!

I had a kitty that liked to do that to our Cocker Spaniel, Doxis. Doxis hated it and would cry the whole time.

It only stopped when Sadie went to live with my son. She's never done it to another dog in her life.

Wow, Brody has that 'why me?' look plastered all over her face. Love the way her eyebrows keep moving like she's trying to roll her eyes. She's so sweet and patient!

I wish I had pictures of the doe fawn (Faline) sucking on our Great Dane's (Nero) lips. She would go straight to him after every bottle. He had the same pitiful expression: ...why are you letting her do this to me?

They really are a great pair. I still wish Skylar would get more playful with Brody... every now and then I'll be playing with Brody and she'll run off to chase a toy, Skylar will stalk up to a corner and jump out at her but that's it. I keep saying 'when she gets bigger" and she's just not growing!

Brody really is very patient with her. A few weeks into Skylar officially living with us (and thus, sleeping in bed with me) Brody had a moment... a few seconds of very light growling while she was sucking on her face. At first, I thought it was at something out the window. I picked Skylar up and it stopped. She went back to her face and it continued. I finally locked her out of the room for the rest of the morning (ok, it was time to get up but I didn't want to). It wasn't a warning growl like if you don't stop I'll bite... more a pitiful attempt to make her stop. She's never done it again because she knows its a waste.

I keep telling her "come on, just chew on her a little... she'll learn!" but she won't do it
