Toby the escapee!!! Pics and Video

Toby managed to escape into the garden unsupervised for a while today. My fault - I didn't realise the door was open. After about 30 minutes searching I eventually found him in the undergrowth of a apple tree we have at the bottom of the garden.

Once I knew where he was I went back indoors and got my camera ..

The undergrowth I had to fight through to get to where Toby was

My little escapee ...

And last - but not least - a little video

Allie, there is so much love and trust in his eyes - and your voice! He's your little baby, one can hear that in every word.

Lovely video.

What a sweet little rascal he is! He has a lovely purr, and you have a lovely voice! He seems to be very loving. Are all of those toys for him?

He has such a wonderful purr, and look how he is rubbing his face in happiness that you came to rescue him. I had a huge, goofy smile on my face listening to both of you .

I couldn't help but fixate on the amount of times you said "Hmmm?" because that is a noise I make when communicating with my kitties, too.

He must love the outdoors. I think he was playing hide and seek with you.

He does indeed! He does love it outside. And its great that we have a garden so I can let him. Its just a shame I can't make it cat proof so I'd feel safer with him going out on his own. He isn't allowed out of the garden - I don't want him meeting other cats for obvious reasons and he isn't very aware of the outside world or road savvy (we have a very busy road nearby). I do feel very happy for him though when I see him having fun out there. Even the garden has lots of exciting noises and smells!

He is very affectionate, Jeanie. He would sit on your lap all day if he could. But, he can also get a little 'over-stimulated' and then he will nip you. In fact, that is what you can see him doing just as we reach the end of the video. Its a very gentle nip though - never hurts. As for the toys - no idea who they belong too. They've been in the garden since I moved in, along with the football net. Previous tenant stuff I guess.

I never noticed the 'hmmmm' thing before . I wonder why we do that?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I shall pass them to the ginger one

I think it is similar to a cat-trill, it is our equivalent of a human-purr or we just want to ask them what's up and see if they reply. I use it to calm kitties down. If they get wild eyed and fuzzed up over something, I will give them blinkies and a long, drawn out uuummmmm-hhhmmmmm and it helps soothe them.
