Tank and Nora Selbrede--Picture Heavy

I never posted pictures of my babies, so here they are!

Tank:

For the record: The dog in the picture (Bear) is around 4' on his hind legs; Tank is a BIG kitty.

Nora:

My roommates keep telling me Nora looks ugly and alien in photographs... is it the eyes? Or maybe the lopsided little smirk where she's got teeth missing? I think she's beautiful. You can't tell, but her eyes are bright green, and very pretty.

I think that both of your kitties and your dog are wonderful.

I think they are all beautiful.
You can get great pictures of cats in natural light and/or when you don't use the flash. The flash is what causes that 'alien' looking reflection in the eyes. Try to take some pics when they are in the sun or bright light is shining in a window so the flash doesn't go off. Disable it, if you can.

ps...taking photos of black and white cats is difficult! It is hard to get definition in their hair-coats. Natural light will make it a little easier...

Thanks for the tips. Sadly, it was a borrowed camera--mine is el crappo.

...got another tip for you...

I want to take nice pictures when I go horseback/trail riding, BUT, I don't want to take my $900 Nikon and risk breaking it. If I accidentally broke it, I'd cry. A lot!
Hubby and I like to 'shop' at pawn shops.
He likes to look for tools and I shop the DVDs. We recently went to one of our fave pawn shops and I happened to notice a Sony Mavica camera in there. We bought one in 2001 for $400, and while I don't recall what the price actually was, I know it was a great deal...so I'll be checking out the pawn shops over the fall/winter to find me a good quality, pocket-size, affordable digital camera I can take trail riding.
You may want to check out cameras at pawn shops, too...
