My new kitty

Just got a new apt and thought I'd get a kitty. I've always had puppies, so its a bit new to me. She also needs a name (I'm terrible at that). Any suggestions?

Picture emailed from the person I got her from.

Golliwog! but that's a cute kitty! I think you should ship her to me and I'll name her "Mine"!
She's beautiful.

Wow, she's so cute! What a cute little face.

I think she looks like a Sady.

Re: My new kitty

Awe thanks everyone! I love her way too much already!
She does go a little nuts at night... scratching, biting, etc... ahh but she is just a baby and will learn. I tap her on her nose and tell her no but that's not seeming to work Haha. Best treatment I've found is to put her in the guest bathroom (where her box, food, bed, etc are) and close the door. After a few minutes she wants out to play so badly she seems to have "sweetened" up!

What a sweet kitten! I think Molly's a cute name...or Snugs.

Re: My new kitty

Wow, she is a cutie all right! You've gotten some nice name ideas, I think she needs an old fashioned girl name - Sadie is sweet, or maybe Molly or Sally. How old is she?

About her playing style - she's just being a kitten with the biting and paw swiping, but it is a good idea to redirect that kind of play early on, so she learns what's okay when she plays with humans. By redirect I mean bring out toys when she gets in that mood - like fishing pole toys, balls, crinkly things, sparkly things - so that all her playful energy gets focused on toys and not your hands or feet. Cats don't learn particularly well using negative techniques (like squirting with water or tapping on the nose, which might work for a puppy) so you are better off taking advantage of how distractible cats are. All cats seem to get in playful moods in the evening, very fun stuff. Soon she'll learn to ask to play, and you will be having so much fun bonding with your new kitty.

Welcome to the Cat Forum, too.

Fran

P.S. She reminds me of the cat who was the mascot of the Chesapeake Railway - wiki article here:
